The Support Helicopter Force (SHF) has an annual exercise called AGILE SPEAR which addresses Non-combatant Evacuation and Humanitarian Aid scenarios. This year it will be in Dorset. To give realism on the exercise, especially on the second to last day the event culminates in a huge push to process and move a large number of “displaced persons” and “refugees”,
DW Wg has been invited to provide staff and cadets to come in civvies with suitcases to act as the large mass of people that must be processed for eligibility to be flown. This year SHF would also like to have them participate in some other even more interesting serials, if possible. The Exercise will take place on Thursday 10 September – which shouldn’t be the problem it might appear to be as experience shows school and parents have been very good about affording the cadets a day off to join a real-life military exercise.
All attendees should get to fly in a Chinook and there is the possibility of some other airframes taking part as well.
Cadets are to inform WO Haywood of the interest, Cadets will not be permitted to cancel their place at short notice unless due to sickness, please ensure you are definately available before confirming your place, there are limited places available so unfortunately some applications might be unsuccessful.
As this is a school day, cadets should seek permission from schools for authorised absence; a suitable letter can be supplied if required.
