Exercise Agile Spear
Bournemouth Air Festival 2015
A number of cadets from the Squadron will be attending in support of this activity. Main points as below.
Mission
To promote the Air Training Corps and engage with the general public.
Duration
The Bournemouth Air Festival will be held 20 Aug – 23 Aug 15.
Location
Cadets assisting will be located at the ‘RAF Village’ on the site of what was the IMAX building, next to the Bournemouth Pier Approach.
Reporting
Cadets are to report 30 minutes prior to the start of their shift to the ATC stand in the RAF Village, where they will sign and be assigned duties.
Shift times are as follows:
1000 – 1400
1400 – 1800
1800 – 2000
Dress for all ACO personnel throughout the show is No. 2 working dress, unless specifically authorised to support a particular exhibit. Working dress is to be fully compliant with current dress regulations. Any personnel not adhering to dress regulations will be directed to leave the show site. Personnel are further advised to have appropriate uniform clothing to-hand in case of wet weather (bring your anorak).
Headdress is not required whilst working within the RAF Village display area but official Service headdress is to be worn when moving through the wider show site and exhibits. There will be senior officers attending the air show and all personnel are reminded to pay compliments where appropriate.
Discipline
Cadets are reminded that they are representing the ACO and, whether on or off duty, will be under the critical eye of the general public. Consequently, only the highest standards of dress and deportment are acceptable. Smoking, drinking or eating is not permitted whilst in the public eye. Refreshments will be available throughout the day but staff and cadets are encouraged to have water bottles for self hydration in the event of hot weather. Cadets are reminded that these standards also apply when travelling to and from the airshow, particularly if this is by public transport.
Interacting With the Public
A conscious effort is to be made by all personnel to engage with the public where possible. Courtesy is imperative and members of the public are to be addressed as “Sir” or “Madam”.
Media
Any enquiry from the media (TV, Radio or Reporters from newspapers) should be addressed initially to MCO DWW or SWR or in their absence, OC Dorset & Wiltshire Wing.
Food
Cadets should ensure that they have a packed lunch or similar sufficient to sustain them for their period of duty.
