As Consent Forms (TG21 and 23) have been updated you are to ensure that you have either collected an updated version from myself/WO Haywood or downloaded from below and completed prior going to the camp.

There is a requirement to have the updated from and failure to provide one will mean you will not be allowed to attend the camp.

Pick up time is confirmed as 0630 at 130 (Bournemouth) Squadron ATC.  Please make sure that there are staff present before allowing your parents to abandon you!

All 3 cadets please check in with me this evening to ensure you are good to go for the camp.

An Offshore Sail Training Week has been arranged for Saturday, 11 July 2015 to Saturday, 18 July 2015, there are 6 cadet places available.

This course is open to Cadets aged 16 years or over. All participants should be competent swimmers and should have passed the ATC basic swimming competence test. All should be sufficiently fit to undergo strenuous activity. All crew are expected to take part in all activities including cooking and chores.

The cost of the week will be £60.

If you are interested please either myself or another member of staff. The closing date for getting applications is Mon 12 April 2015.

Boot Camp on the weekend of 25th-26th October.

This will primarily be aimed at the younger cadets to learn a lot of the basic skills and gain a good insight into life in the ACO. It will also be an opportunity for the more senior cadets to gain valuable skills in leadership and training, as well as helping the staff in the running of the event.

This will be held at the Squadron HQ and should cover the following subject areas (subject to change and staff availability):

AT Weekend Safety Brief

All cadets attending the upcoming AT weekend are to ensure they attend the safety brief on Friday 04 Jul 14.  In addition they are to bring in their rucksack/kit so it can be checked by staff.

Any cadets unable to make this safety brief are to inform staff as soon as possible and alternate arrangements will be made.

Joining Instructions – Local Walk Sunday 13 April 2014

Overview

The walk will take place in the local Ferndown/Wimborne  Area.  It will be approximately 16km in total and should take most of the day.  This is the first walk in a series this year.

The objective is to improve the standard of navigation in the Squadron, also working on aspects of team work and leadership.

Timings

Those taking part in the walk should be at the hut by 0900 on the Sunday morning.   We aim to finish between 1600 and 1700 or earlier.  Cadets will be able to contact their parents from the hut if necessary.  Cadets should have their 3822 and consent form with them.

Equipment

  • Civilian clothing suitable for walking (no jeans).  CS95/MTP is not to be worn.
  • Pair of walking boots/shoes that have been broken in prior to the walk
  • Rucksack (no webbing) military day sacks are acceptable
  • Jumper or similar warm clothing
  • Waterproofs ( DPM are acceptable in this case if no others are available)
  • Packed lunch and adequate water for the day 1 – 2 litres
  • Emergency rations
  • Personal first aid kit
  • OS 195 map and compass if you have them

Conduct

Cadets are reminded that although they are in civilian clothing they are still representing the Corps and their behaviour should reflect this during the walk.  All cadets taking part should expect to take an active part in the navigation of the group.

Unfortunately the Wing Adventure Training Camp on Jersey will not be running this year.  This is due to the dates available and the increase in cost.  Wing have informed us that they hope to have a look at running the camp again in 2015.

The following has been passed on by the Regional Adventure Training Officer.  Its a great opportunity for cadet aged 16+ or a member of staff.  Cadets may be able to apply for funding from the JTYAF.
Please note that there is only one place available within SW Region.  Anyone would like to go should let me know before First Parade this evening so we can get an email in to SW Region.  If you wish to let me know before please email oc.2358@aircadets.org.  Also note the requirement for previous climbing experience.

Notice from ACF

The Cadet Center for Adventurous Training has 1 vacancy for a Cadet aged 16+ or Adult/Officer from the ACF or CCF to attend our Rock Climbing expedition to the Costa Blanca, Spain over the period 19-26 Oct 13.
 
The course fee of £300 includes flights, food, accommodation, equipment, instruction, in country transport and insurance.
 
Candidates will complete the JSAT Rock Climbing Foundation Award during the course. Applicants should have some basic climbing experience prior to attending.
