On Saturday 07 Sep 13 cadets from Ferndown will be joining 149 (Poole) Squadron on their annual sponsored walk.  The cadets from Poole are raising funds for their Squadron and our cadets have asked to raise money for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF).

Administration

Cadets will need the usual Form TG21/TG23 and 3822.  This is an normal ATC Adventure Training activity and as such cadets are covered by ATC insurance.

Transport

Cadets will need to be at Studland Car Park at 0830.  The walk will finish at Wareham Quay at approximately 1615.   Transport details will be finalised in the week leading up to the event.

Equipment

  • Civilian clothing suitable for walking (no jeans).  CS95 is not to be worn.
  • Pair of walking boots/shoes that have been broken in prior to the walk
  • Rucksack (no webbing) military day sacks are acceptable
  • Waterproofs ( DPM are acceptable in this case if no others are available)
  • Packed lunch and adequate water for the day 1 – 2 litres
  • Emergency rations
  • Personal first aid kit
  • OS 195 map and compass if you have them

Conduct

Cadets are reminded that although they are in civilian clothing they are still representing the Corps and their behaviour should reflect this during the walk.

Sponsorship

We understand that many of you have recently raised funds for the JTYAF through the Dorset Plane Pull.  Bearing this in mind it is not compulsary to be sponsored for the walk and cadets may take part purely as an adventure training activity if they wish.

Those cadets wishing to obtain sponsorship for the walk should use the attached form.

The Bournemouth Air Festival will take place from 29 August to 1 September 2013 and once again this presents an excellent opportunity for recruiting and publicity. This year, the ACO will be concentrated in one location in the expanded RAF village at the pier which will occupy much of the site of the now demolished IMAX theatre. As a result we have a larger area for exhibits and more space which will be filled with the wing marquee, fieldcraft and AT displays and the region media trailer.

Each Day is split into 3 shifts Morning 1000-1400, Afternoon 1300-1700 and Evening 1600-2000.  You have already nominated which days/shifts you want to attend and this information has been passed to the Airshow Corordinators.  You are responsible for getting yourself to and from the Airshow.

Uniform is working dress, dark blue shirt.  If it looks like rain please bring your ATC waterproof jackets with you.  On arrival report to the ATC Tent in the RAF Village at the IMax site to the East of the Pier.  From here you will be assigned to a team and activity.  There will be somewhere to store bags so you can bring lunch with you.  Please also ensure you have a waterbottle and sun cream.

As with all ATC activities a TG21/23 form will be required but this can be made out for several days if you are attending on more than one day.

      • Bring Sponsor Form and whatever money they have raised to date with them.

There is an option to assist 130 Squadron with the manning of stands etc. during the event.  If you wish to do this make us aware on the day and we will liaise with 130 Squadron.

Please ensure that you collect any outstanding sponsorship money post the event and return it to the Squadron who will pass it on to the JTYAF.

If any cadet aged 16 years plus has completed the necessary medical forms for a Gliding Schollarship, the Wing may have one available at short notice.   Note you MUST have completed the necessary medical RAF Form 6424 certificates from your GP.

If you have not done this then please do not apply for this.  Any cadets that have completed the paperwork and are in a position to attend a resedential course at short notice please let me know at oc.2358@aircadets.org as soon as possible.

This does not preclude cadets from applying for future courses.
