Dorset Plane Pull for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF)

Squadron Event  Comments Off on Dorset Plane Pull for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF)
Sep 022012

On Monday 27 August Air Cadets from 2358 (Ferndown) and 149  (Poole) Squadrons got together to help raise funds for the JTYAF.  Many of the cadets have flown in Aircraft and Gliders before but having to pull an aeroplane was a new experience for them.

Especially as this was a giagantic bright red Boeing 737 cargo aircraft owned by the Post Office!  The team took up the strain and pulled for all they were worth getting a time of 49 seconds for the pull.  Between them the team raised £820.00 for the JTYAF a great achievement for the cadets.

The JTYAF supports Air Cadets from Dorset and Wiltshire Wing by providing them with scholarships and bursaries to support their personal development and the pursuit of their ambitions.

JTYAF Plane Pull 27/08/2012

Squadron Event  Comments Off on JTYAF Plane Pull 27/08/2012
Aug 212012

For all those cadets attending the plane pull, please ensure you have raised the minimum amount of money which is £20 before the pull, as you will need to hand it in on the day. The timings for the day will be 09:30 – 17:00, you will be asked to help out doing various duties to help run the event. If any cadets need to leave earlier they can.  The time for our teams pull is 11:00. Any one requiring sponsor forms needs to attend cadets Friday, I will be putting an electronic copy on Friday night.

  1. Please make sure your that all team members bring photo ID (passport/driving licence) they can’t pull without it
  2. Please arrive 45 minutes before your pull time
  3. Team Captain to report to the JTYAF tent on arrival, with the completed cover sheet (attached) together with a completed waiver form for each team member and the £400 pulling fee. We can only take cheque or cash (We will only need Team Captains at this stage)
  4. Once all the paperwork has been checked as present and correct Pete will take you over to the Plane Pull team to register (no later than 20 minutes before the pull). At this point you will need to collect the whole team together – each team member will need to present their photo ID as they won’t be able to pull without it
  5. Gloves – a good idea to advise team members to wear gloves to prevent any rope burn
  6. All pullers must be over 14 years of age
  7. If the weather’s dodgey please check the Plane Pull website http://www.planepull.co.uk/ or their Facebook page to make sure that the event is still going ahead. If you let us have your mobile number we will phone you if the event is cancelled just as soon as we have the news.
