Availability of Uniform

As you may be aware the Squadron is currently experiencing difficulties in issuing and obtaining uniform.

Our Parent Station is RAF Brize Norton, which is one of the busiest stations within the UK and has had serious issues resourcing the manpower necessary to supply uniforms to ATC units.  Although the Squadron does hold a small reserve of uniformthis has now been almost exhausted.

I have spoken with the stores at RAF Brize Norton today and although they are now resourced to provide uniform for ATC units, problems within the RAF Supply Chain mean that there is practically no uniform available to issue to ATC units and they have been instructed to cease issuing uniform units until this is resolved.

I realise that it is disappointing to new cadets not to be able to be issued with new uniform, but at least we are able to issue CS95 uniform.  In the meantime please bare with us while we try and resource uniform locally and this may mean having to ‘share’ items such as berets and belts for parades etc.

Hopefully the RAF will resolve this issue soon and we have an order pending at RAF Brize Norton as soon as this happens.

I would like to personally thank all the cadets and NCOs who attended Wing Activities Day to represent the Squadron.  Thanks go to all of those you who have spent many parade nights in preparation for this event, and we were impressed with your willingness to take part in events on the day.  I would like to single out the Drill Squad in particular, despite missing some of your regular members you rallied together and gave an impressive performance under Sgt TH.  I will post the detailed results of the day once they become available from Wing HQ.

Bournemouth Airshow Joining Instructions

Aug 232013

The Bournemouth Air Festival will take place from 29 August to 1 September 2013 and once again this presents an excellent opportunity for recruiting and publicity. This year, the ACO will be concentrated in one location in the expanded RAF village at the pier which will occupy much of the site of the now demolished IMAX theatre. As a result we have a larger area for exhibits and more space which will be filled with the wing marquee, fieldcraft and AT displays and the region media trailer.

Each Day is split into 3 shifts Morning 1000-1400, Afternoon 1300-1700 and Evening 1600-2000.  You have already nominated which days/shifts you want to attend and this information has been passed to the Airshow Corordinators.  You are responsible for getting yourself to and from the Airshow.

Uniform is working dress, dark blue shirt.  If it looks like rain please bring your ATC waterproof jackets with you.  On arrival report to the ATC Tent in the RAF Village at the IMax site to the East of the Pier.  From here you will be assigned to a team and activity.  There will be somewhere to store bags so you can bring lunch with you.  Please also ensure you have a waterbottle and sun cream.

As with all ATC activities a TG21/23 form will be required but this can be made out for several days if you are attending on more than one day.

If any cadet aged 16 years plus has completed the necessary medical forms for a Gliding Schollarship, the Wing may have one available at short notice.   Note you MUST have completed the necessary medical RAF Form 6424 certificates from your GP.

If you have not done this then please do not apply for this.  Any cadets that have completed the paperwork and are in a position to attend a resedential course at short notice please let me know at oc.2358@aircadets.org as soon as possible.

This does not preclude cadets from applying for future courses.
