Information

Purpose.  This is a Ferndown only weekend which will consist of a mixture of training and exercises.  The objective of the weekend is to improve the fieldcraft skills, team work and leadership skills of cadets.

As there is currently no female cover available, unfortunately this activity will only be open to male cadets.

Costs.  Cost for the weekend is £15.00 per cadet.  This should be paid by Monday 12 Aug 13.

Cadets will need to complete a Form TG21, with a TG23 for additional medical declarations.

Transport.  Cadets should arrive at the HQ on Friday 16 Aug 13  by 1700.  We will return to the HQ on Sunday 18 Aug 13 between 1600 and 1700 hours.

Safety Brief.  A safety brief will take place on Monday 12 Aug 13.  All cadets should attend the brief.

Food.  Ration Packs are not available.  Students should prepare food based on the list below.  Note food will be provided for the remainder of the weekend.

Kit.  A kit list is provided opposite.  The Squadron will be able to supply some kit.  Cadets who have kit problems should see a member of staff as soon as possible before the weekend.

Rough guide to making up a ration pack

 

  • 6 x small tins of spaghetti, beans, ravioli etc.
  • 3 x mars bars or similar
  • 1 bar of chocolate
  • 1 packet plain biscuits
  • 1 packet sweet biscuits
  • 1 jar meat paste or similar
  • 4 cup a soup or similar
  • boiled sweets or similar

Please find below the definitive kit list for RAF Northolt as provided by the Camp Commandant.  Please compare this to the list provided in the original Camp Brief and ensure that you have all the kit required.  As much of the camp will be spent in Civilian clothing  and CS95 it is suggested that cadets ensure they have sufficient civilian clothing and T shirts (green or black) for CS95.  If you have any kit issues please sort then soonest before camp.

The Squadron will be selling Annual Draw Tickets at Haskins Garden Centre Ferndown on Sat 27 and Sun 28 Jul 13.

The event will run from 1000 – 1300 on each day and will be split down into 2 shifts:

  • 0945 – 1100
  • 1045 – 1300

The purpose of the Annual Draw is to raise money for Squadron Funds to allow us to purchase equipment and take part in some activities.   This is one of only two fund raising activities we do for the Squadron in the year so I am expecting good support from cadets on the Squadron.  Names will be taken in the Events FOlder on Final Parade on the nights running up to the activity.

149 (Poole) Squadron will be holding a sponsored walk on Saturday 07 Sep 13, in the Purbeck area.  They have invited us to join them.  As the walk is to raise funds for their Squadron, we have proposed that cadets taking part from 2358 will raise money for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF).  We will be putting a notice up in room 3/4 so you can add your name if you wish to take part in the walk.
