JNCO ASSESSMENT COURSE 30 NOV 13 – JOINING INSTRUCTIONS
1. The subject assessment course will assemble at the Conference Centre RAF Boscombe Down.

PURPOSE OF COURSE
4. The purpose of the JNCO assessment course is to provide you with feedback on your practical ability as a JNCO. Successful completion is a pre-requisite for promotion to Sgt in accordance with Wing policy.
REPORTING
5. The course will commence 0830 Saturday 30th November 13 and will disperse at approximately 1630 the same day.
6. All personnel and any drivers must have photo ID to present at the guardroom. Entry to the site will not be permitted unless you carry a recognised form of Photo ID such as a Passport, Driving Licence, MOD F90, RAF F1250 or F3822.
7. You will report to the Admin Officer on arrival and hand over your Forms TG 21 and 23 as appropriate. Please note you will be RTU’d if you are not in possession of these forms.
8. An inspection will be held immediately after you have completed the course admin.
MESSING
9. You should bring a packed lunch and drinks as there are no facilities available on site for this course and the course programme does not permit off site visit to shops.
CHARGES
10. There are no charges for this course.
PAY AND ALLOWANCES
11. Pay and allowances are not applicable for students on this course.
DRESS
12. The following dress states are applicable to this course:
a. Cadets – No 2A dress (pullover and Jeltex jacket to be brought)
EQUIPMENT
13. The following equipment is required:

e. Forms TG 21 and 23 (as appropriate)

DISCIPLINE
14. A high standard of self-discipline will be expected from all students attending the course. This is particularly important, as we are guests on the site.
ASSESSMENT
15. Your dress will be inspected on arrival. The following areas will be assessed:

c. Leadership
d. GSK
e. Coursework
Squadron Stand Down Friday 22 Nov 13
Please note the Squadron will be Stood Down on Friday 22 Nov 13 due to staff being on the Bovington Weekend. We will be back to normal on Monday 25 Nov 13.

L98 A2 Initial Weapons Training
The following cadets have been selected to attend the IWT at Buckly Barracks (SN14 6BT).

Arrival: 08:15 each day at the guardroom. Cadets will be collected from the guardroom and taken to the training centre.
Finish: 17:30 on Saturday, 17:00 on Sunday
Dress: DPM
Equipment: Pen and paper, webbing if they have their own, 3822
Consent Forms: Each cadet must be in possession of a fully completed TG21 and TG23 (where needed). TG21 & 23 can be found on the website.
Lunch: Cadets need to bring their own lunch and refreshments each day. There is a NAAFI but breaks will be short.

The 6 cadets wishing to get their WHT will still be able to if they wish.

Remembrance Day Parades Sunday 09 Nov 14
The Squadron will be taking part in Remembrance Day Parades at West Moors and Ferndown on Sunday 09 Nov 14.
Dress
Uniform for Staff is No 1 Service Dress with medals and poppy.
Uniform for Cadets is :
- No 2 (Full) Service Working Dress (Long sleeved light blue shirt and black tie and jumpers – formerly known as No1)
- Ensure that you bring Jeltex Jackets if you are in Uniform
- Smart CS95/MTP with black (polished) boots and beret
- For those without uniform, smart school uniform can be worn and you will accompany CI Lowe during the parade.
Cadets are to ensure that they have a poppy and change for the collection. Phones are to be put on silent before the services.
Banner Bearer to ensure that Banner is present with appropriate equipment for both parades
FS Symonds to ensure that wreaths are available for both parades and that the personnel laying the wreath have been correctly briefed
West Moors Parade
Arrive at Riverside Road, West Moors at 1000 hrs to form up for a 1030 march off. Parade will conclude by about 1230 hrs.
Ferndown Parade
Arrive at Peter Grant Way, Ferndown at 1410 hrs to form up for a 1430 march off. Parade will conclude by about 1700 hrs.
L98 A2 Initial Weapons Training (IWT) 16-17 Nov 13
The following cadets have been put forward to attend the IWT at Buckly Barracks from the 16 to the 17 November. Cadets selected will be expected to make their own way there and back.

Gliding – Documents Required by Cadets
Cadets are to note that they MUST have their 3822 and forms TG21/TG23 in order to take part in gliding.

Squadron Bovington Exercise 22-24 November 2013 Joining Instructions
Purpose. This is a Ferndown only weekend which will consist of a mixture of training and exercises. The objective of the weekend is to improve the fieldcraft skills, team work and leadership skills of cadets.
This is the first weekend exercise the Squadron has held in the winter for some time and as such attendance is limited to cadets aged 14 years plus on the date of the exercise. As there is currently no female cover available, unfortunately this activity will only be open to male cadets.
Costs. Cost for the weekend is £15.00 per cadet. This should be paid by Monday 17 November 13.
Cadets will need to complete a Form TG21, with a TG23 for additional medical declarations.
Attendance. Cadets aged 16 years plus should arrive at the HQ on Friday 22 November 13 by 1700. They will be staying overnight on the Friday and Saturday. Cadets aged 14 – 16 years should arrive at the HQ on Saturday 23 November 13 by 0900, they will be staying over night on the Saturday only. We will return to the HQ on Sunday 24 November 13 between 1600 and 1700 hours.
Safety Brief. A safety brief will take place on Monday 17 November 13. All cadets should attend the brief.
Food. Ration Packs are not available. Cadetsshould prepare food based on the list below.
Kit. A kit list is provided below. The Squadron will be able to supply some kit. Cadets who have kit problems should see a member of staff as soon as possible before the weekend.

Rough guide to making up a ration pack
- 6 x small tins of spaghetti, beans, ravioli etc.
- 3 x mars bars or similar
- 1 bar of chocolate
- 1 packet plain biscuits
- 1 packet sweet biscuits
- 1 jar meat paste or similar
- 4 cup a soup or similar
- boiled sweets or similar
