The minibus will be leaving ferndown HQ at 07:30 and arriving back at 13:30 est.

Dorset / Wilts Wing have been allocated 1 x cadet (any gender) place to Ramstein camp 13 – 22 Aug 14.  This is a camp in Germany. Overseas rules state cadets must be over 15 years in age, Leading Cadet and have attended a UK camp or Greens Camp of longer than 3 nights duration.
 
Cost is £220.  Photocopy of Passport and EHIC card will be required.  If you wish to be considered for this camp please see OIC on Friday 25 Apr 14.  Please note that even if you are put forward to go you will still have to be selected from all other cadets in Dorset/Wilts that have applied for the camp place.

We will be visiting Ferndown Middle School on Friday 25 Apr 14 to give a presentation.  Those cadets attending MUST ensure that they have permission from their parents/school.

A letter you can provide to your school can be found  here   Permission Letter for Cadets to attend.

Timings are as follows:

Friday morning arrive at school 0830 depart 0945

Friday Lunchtime arrive at school 1200 depart 1330

We will do preparation for the event on Thursday 24 Apr 14 from 1900 to 1930 at the Sqn HQ.

FS Navrady-Pitcher to coordinate names of cadets attending and dress which is to be Working Blues/No1 uniform/CS95 or MTP.  A high standard of turnout is expected from all cadets involved.

Overview

The walk will take place in the local Ferndown/Wimborne  Area.  It will be approximately 16km in total and should take most of the day.  This is the first walk in a series this year.

The objective is to improve the standard of navigation in the Squadron, also working on aspects of team work and leadership.

Timings

Those taking part in the walk should be at the hut by 0900 on the Sunday morning.   We aim to finish between 1600 and 1700 or earlier.  Cadets will be able to contact their parents from the hut if necessary.  Cadets should have their 3822 and consent form with them.

Equipment

  • Civilian clothing suitable for walking (no jeans).  CS95/MTP is not to be worn.
  • Pair of walking boots/shoes that have been broken in prior to the walk
  • Rucksack (no webbing) military day sacks are acceptable
  • Jumper or similar warm clothing
  • Waterproofs ( DPM are acceptable in this case if no others are available)
  • Packed lunch and adequate water for the day 1 – 2 litres
  • Emergency rations
  • Personal first aid kit
  • OS 195 map and compass if you have them

Conduct

Cadets are reminded that although they are in civilian clothing they are still representing the Corps and their behaviour should reflect this during the walk.  All cadets taking part should expect to take an active part in the navigation of the group.
