Update on Eligibility for Gibraltar Camp

Annual Camp, Wing Event  Comments Off on Update on Eligibility for Gibraltar Camp
Aug 242012

The original post from Wing HQ did not contain the exact criteria for attending an Overseas Camp.  I have consulted ACP 237 ‘Air Cadet Annual Camps Administrative Instructions’ and its states that cadets must meet the following criteria to attend an Overeas Camp:

“Cadets selected to attend overseas camps must be at least 15 years of age at the start of their respective camp.  Additionally cadets must have attended at least one UK, or equivalent ATC-organised, camp of at least one week’s duration.”

Please ensure that you meet these criteria before applying.

JTYAF Plane Pull 27/08/2012

Aug 212012

For all those cadets attending the plane pull, please ensure you have raised the minimum amount of money which is £20 before the pull, as you will need to hand it in on the day. The timings for the day will be 09:30 – 17:00, you will be asked to help out doing various duties to help run the event. If any cadets need to leave earlier they can.  The time for our teams pull is 11:00. Any one requiring sponsor forms needs to attend cadets Friday, I will be putting an electronic copy on Friday night.

  1. Please make sure your that all team members bring photo ID (passport/driving licence) they can’t pull without it
  2. Please arrive 45 minutes before your pull time
  3. Team Captain to report to the JTYAF tent on arrival, with the completed cover sheet (attached) together with a completed waiver form for each team member and the £400 pulling fee. We can only take cheque or cash (We will only need Team Captains at this stage)
  4. Once all the paperwork has been checked as present and correct Pete will take you over to the Plane Pull team to register (no later than 20 minutes before the pull). At this point you will need to collect the whole team together – each team member will need to present their photo ID as they won’t be able to pull without it
  5. Gloves – a good idea to advise team members to wear gloves to prevent any rope burn
  6. All pullers must be over 14 years of age
  7. If the weather’s dodgey please check the Plane Pull website http://www.planepull.co.uk/ or their Facebook page to make sure that the event is still going ahead. If you let us have your mobile number we will phone you if the event is cancelled just as soon as we have the news.

Memorial Dedication to Flt Lt Jon Egging Red Arrows Cadets Required 29 Aug 12

Parade, Urgent, Wing Event  Comments Off on Memorial Dedication to Flt Lt Jon Egging Red Arrows Cadets Required 29 Aug 12
Aug 162012

There will be a dedication service in Bournemouth on Wednesday 29 August for the memorial to Flt Lt Jon Egging of the RAFAT. This is being hosted by the Mayor of Bournemouth and Dr Emma Egging of the Jon Egging Trust.
There will be a reception at the Miramar Hotel, followed by the unveiling of the memorial and return to the Miramar Hotel on the East Cliff. At the request of Dr Egging and Bournemouth Council, we have been asked to provide cadets to line the route from the hotel to the memorial and back, in recognition of the link to both the RAF and the Air Cadets and the goals of the Jon Egging Trust.
Following a recce with WO Hutchinson (SE Sector WO) and WO Green (OIC130) yesterday, we have concluded that ideally 50 cadets will be required along with supervisory staff in the ratio of at least 1:10.
Dress for the day will be Wedgewood Blue with Tie, No1 for staff.
Arrival on site will be approximately 1230 and all activities are expected to be concluded by 1430.
Any cadets interested in supporting this event should put their names forward on Friday night.
